Greetings from Logan-Rogersville Middle School!
We hope you had an enjoyable summer and are eager for a successful 2023-24 school year, which begins Monday, August 21st. The school day begins at 7:35 a.m. and ends at 2:35 p.m. Friday, August 25th, and every Friday, school dismisses at 1:35 p.m. The following information is relevant to the upcoming school year:
Open House - Wednesday, August 16th
If possible, please adhere to the designated times to minimize congestion:
7th grade - 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
8th grade - 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Registration
Please complete the important following information, via the Parent Portal (logrog.net/Parent Resources/Parent Portal), prior to the first day of school. (An email was sent July 25th to parents regarding this new process.)

Chromebooks - Beginning in 7th grade, students are provided a Chromebook.
The acknowledged and signed Technology Agreement (via the online registration) is required before a device is assigned.
Students can receive their device at Open House or the first day of school. (They will be activated on the first day of school.)
Fees will be assessed if maintenance or repair is needed due to the device being damaged. Please refer to the Technology Acceptable Use Policy in the STUDENT HANDBOOK for further details.
School Store
Through August 31st, the credit card usage fee will be waived for online payments made for meals, athletic passes, class fees, etc. (logrog.net/Parent Resources/LR School Store).
Class Schedules
Some teachers and classes may have changed over the summer. An updated schedule is enclosed, and it is helpful to bring it to Open House.

Meals
The cost of breakfast is $1.50, lunch $3.00, and extra milk $.50. Free or reduced prices are available through application approval.
Deposits can be made online (logrog.net/Parent Resources/LR School Store/Food Service) or to the office with cash or checks payable to LRMS.
Students purchase meals using their Lumen identification number.

Homework Assignments/Grades/Grade Checks
Canvas is the online learning system used for students to access assignments.
Upon returning to school, required codes will be provided for parents to set up a Canvas account, which links to the student’s account, allowing access to homework assignments and grades.
Grade checks (progress reports) will take place approximately every three weeks. Parents/guardians will be notified by email when grade checks occur.

Random Drug Testing
All students in grades 7th-12th who participate in extracurricular or co-curricular activities (such as athletics, band, choir, student council, speech and drama, and science club) will be subject to random drug testing. Students participating in extra-curricular/co-curricular activities are assigned to a pool of approximately 250 students. Random testing takes place twice a month, with five students randomly selected. The testing will take place in a designated location by collecting a urine specimen with the utmost respect and confidentiality. A consent form must be completed prior to students participating in after-school activities. Eighth graders who signed a consent form last year will not need to do so again this year.
Athletics
A current physical exam (less than two years old), insurance information, and a signed copy of the “Athletic & Activity Policy Handbook” are required to participate in athletics (logrog.net/Middle School/Athletics).
Students must have transportation available at the end of daily practices in order to participate.
Fall sports begin:
Cross-Country: Monday, August 14th, 6:00-7:30 a.m.
Football: Monday, August 14th, 2:30-5:00 p.m., at the Wildcat Stadium.
Volleyball -Tryouts: Monday and Tuesday, August 14th and 15th, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
